Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

1. Who is responsible for your data

[Company legal name], located at [Company address] ("KontactMe"), is responsible for the personal data of people who create an account at kontactme.com. For any privacy question, write to [privacy email].

If you left your details on someone's card (with the "Leave me your info" button), the owner of that card controls that data and decides how to contact you. KontactMe only stores and processes it on their behalf, as a service provider, and does not use it for anything else.

2. What we collect

  • From account holders: name, email, phone, the plan they choose, password (stored hashed, never in plain text) and whatever they choose to publish on their card, such as photo, title, company, phone, social links and address. To sign up we email a verification code: it is stored hashed and deleted when used or after 10 minutes. Sign-ups that are never activated are deleted after 60 days without activity.
  • From people who leave their details on a card: name, phone and, if they type them, email and company; plus the link or QR code they came from.
  • From card visitors: a count of visits per card and per source, with device type, referring site and an approximate location (country, state and city). We don't store IP addresses or browser fingerprints for this.
  • From visitors to this site or a card: which pages are opened and which buttons are tapped (for example, call or save contact), anonymously. See section 7.

We don't collect sensitive personal information.

3. How we use it

  • To create and maintain your account and your digital card, and publish it at the address you choose.
  • To deliver to a card's owner the details their visitors leave, with their source.
  • To show statistics on visits, leads and recorded sales.
  • To send you service emails: account verification and password recovery.
  • To prevent abuse and keep the service secure.

We don't sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

4. Who we share it with

Only with providers that help us run the service (hosting, email delivery), who must protect it and use it only for that purpose, and with authorities when the law requires it. The details you leave on a card are seen by its owner and, for a company account, its administrator.

5. Your rights

You can ask to know what personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, by writing to [privacy email] with your name, your request and a way to reach you. We'll reply within 45 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

Account holders can correct their data from their dashboard and delete their account under "My account". If you left your details on a card, you can ask its owner or us to delete them.

6. Cookies

We use our own essential cookies to keep you signed in. On public cards we store a random identifier in your browser that changes every day, only so the same visit isn't counted twice.

7. Anonymous visit and click measurement

We measure how many people open the pages of this site and of the cards, and which buttons they tap, to understand and improve the service. We store the page or button name, device type, referring site, the link's campaign parameters if any, and an approximate location: country, state and city.

  • We use a random identifier stored in your browser that changes every day, so it can't recognize you from one day to the next or across sites.
  • The approximate location is derived from your IP address at the time of the visit, on our server and in memory. The IP address is not kept: we only store country, state and city, which are approximate.
  • We don't use cookies for this measurement, don't store your IP address or anything that identifies you, and don't combine this data with your account.

Approximate location comes from the DB-IP IP geolocation database, under a CC BY 4.0 license.

8. Card directory

If a card's owner turns it on ("Appear in the KontactMe directory"), the card is listed in our public directory by category and city, with the information the card already shows publicly (name, title, company, photo and contact buttons). It is optional and can be turned off at any time from the card editor. We don't add any new data to the directory.

9. Children

KontactMe is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

10. Changes to this policy

We'll post any change on this page with its update date.
